FAQ

What does a celebrant do?

From weddings to civil partnerships, naming ceremonies to vow renewals and funerals, a celebrant creates, performs, and officiates at a formal family ceremony. Unlike any other formal ceremony, this celebration can be totally personalised to you.

Why choose a celebrant?

A unique service designed around you as a couple. With regular meetings prior to the big day, a celebrant curates a service perfect to your specifications. In-jokes, travel tales and highlighting the people that mean so much to you. And of course your love for each other. Whatever you would like to include is possible.

Are these wedding and civil partnership ceremonies legally binding?

No, you need to ensure you have carried out the paperwork and process to make it legally binding. There is no rule to say that the certificate can only be signed after the ceremony. It can be signed beforehand so you are technically married before the ceremony begins.

Can we help with the ceremony content?

Yes, I can’t do this on my own and need your ongoing input. It’s very much a collaborative process throughout to ensure you are happy.  I want to deliver a ceremony that is just for you as a couple or family.

How long is the ceremony?

It’s entirely up to you. This is your day and your ceremony so depends on what you want to include, but can be anywhere between 20 and 40 minutes.

Where can a ceremony be held?

The amazing thing is, as a celebrant it can be anywhere you want it to be held. Inside or outside. I would obviously advise you ask permission first, if it’s not your land or venue.  Also, have a think about an outdoor wedding in the UK and ensure you have another option or able to move it in if the weather turns a bit nasty.

Are you able to help with the choreography of the ceremony?

Absolutely, more than happy to help and work with you to make you and your guests feel as comfortable and happy as possible. I can be available for a rehearsal the day before the ceremony, if you want to ensure it all runs lovely and smoothly.

How much do your ceremonies cost?

It depends on your requirements, but range from £500 for a naming ceremony to £825 for a wedding within a 30 mile radius of where I live in Bristol.

Can you include religion in your ceremonies?

I can include religion in your ceremony if you want whether that’s a hymn or a religious reading or a ritual.  All this can be discussed when we start to plan your day.

What geographical areas do you cover?

I live in Bristol but more than willing to travel to any area in Somerset, Gloucester, Wiltshire or South Wales.  As a Glaswegian, I’m not adverse to popping home either.

Are you qualified?

Yes, I trained and certified with the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants (FPC) and can conduct weddings, civil partnerships, vow renewals and naming ceremonies. I’m a member of the FPC too.

Thank you so much for being such a wonderful part of our day. We couldn't imagine a more perfect ceremony or person to lead it.
